In a recent blog post, Dr. Clay Jones of Biola University gives a biblical perspective on using evidence as testimony to the truth of Jesus Christ.

Here’s a sneak peek:

“In 1993 I started working for Simon Greenleaf University (now Trinity Law School) which offered an M.A. in Christian apologetics (Craig Hazen was the director). Much of my job was to promote the school and although I had studied Christian apologetics since my sophomore year in high school, I decided I needed to see whether an apologetic witness had strong Biblical precedence. It does. As I poured through the Scripture I found that Jesus and the apostles preached the resurrection of Christ as the sign of the truth of Christianity.”

  1. Mary Jo Sharp, I saw your post on facebook about Islam. I SWEAR BY ALLAH ALMIGHTY You and David Wood are nothing but hatemongers against Islam. You Think you can spew this non sense and hate about Islam and you think you can GET AWAY WITH IT?

  2. Anonymous –

    1) I am not David Wood.

    2) Your ad hominem on this post has nothing to do with the subject matter of this post.

    3) Your last sentence sounds like a threat. Is that what you intended?

    4) I do not speak "hate" against Islam. I investigate the claims of Islam according to the Islamic texts and scholars. If you call that "hate" then any education could be considered "hate" due to the fact that education involves investigation into truth claims. I don't believe you think education and subsequently investigation into contradictory religious truth claims (i.e. Islam vs. Christianity) is really 'hatemongering.' I value the pursuit of truth, including the evaluating the truth claims of a religion according to the religion's text and scholarly teachers, and I hope you do as well.

    5) You have committed logical fallacies in your post. Please post something of relevance, without red herrings, without associational fallcies, without ad hominem, etc. Otherwise, this just looks like a smear tactic.

6)Matthew 5:37 states that a person should let their 'yes' be 'yes' and their 'no' be 'no' Likewise, James 5:12 reads, "Above all, my brothers, do not swear–not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. Let your "Yes" be yes, and your "No," no, or you will be condemned." Therefore, I will not simply post words to swear that my testimony is true. But I will allow my actions and work speak for itself. In that way, I hope many will see the shallowness and deceptiveness of attacks such as yours above. These kind of postings seek to destroy people's reputations rather than investigate truth.

    7) I thought about not allowing this post, but I decided it was more beneficial to allow the post as an educational tool (I apologize if that comes across a bit stridently…that is not what is intended). What I hope to demonstrate is: Though I will not post/say such vicious language against any Muslim, as demonstrated here, this is one area in which I will not receive a return courtesy…yet, apparently, anonymous says I am the "hatemonger." This is bad reasoning and is unfortunate. It can harm the person being attacked by way of slander and it harms the person making the attack because it is unethical behavior.

  3. I investigate the claims of Islam according to the Islamic texts and scholars.

My Response: How can "investigate" the claims of Islamic texts and scholars when you know NO ARABIC a language that is needed to read and study the best Islamic materials?

Rather your like your buddy David Wood– you claim to know things about Islam when in fact you KNOW NOTHING.

  4. Anon,

If, as you claim, one can know nothing about Islam without knowing Arabic, then the vast majority of Muslims know nothing about Islam. A sad religion.

    Ehteshaam,

The evidence is all for Christianity. The truths of the bible accounts–such as the crucifixion and resurrection–are attested to by multiple eyewitnesses.

There really is no evidence for Islam apart from Muhammad's say so. He had private revelations from a lying spirit and the only evidence you have is Muhammad's own testimony. The testimony of a man who admitted that he received revelation from Satan.

Again, so sad that so many are deceived by the false religion he invented.

  5. ***Note please let respond to the above comment. I promise its civil***

If, as you claim, one can know nothing about Islam without knowing Arabic, then the vast majority of Muslims know nothing about Islam. A sad religion.

My Response: LOL You serious? A VAST majority of Christians don't know anything about Koinke Greek— and all of the Christian documents (from Paul's letters to church fathers material) are in Greek. So why the inconsistency with your own faith?

As for a majority of Muslims, that is NOT true, most Muslims know Arabic. Arabic is not a difficult langauge to learn… its much easier than N.T. Greek. I am not even an Arab and I know Arabic!

It just makes me laugh when Christian apologists like Mary Jo Sharp or James White claim to know Islam when they don't even know Arabic. Translations don't count you have to know the Arabic. Just like you have to know Koinke Greek in order to understand the New Testament you have to know Arabic to understand the Quran. And like I said Arabic is much easier to learn and understand than New Testament Koinke Greek is.

The evidence is all for Christianity. The truths of the bible accounts–such as the crucifixion and resurrection–are attested to by multiple eyewitnesses.

My Response: Prove it. You can't prove a single thing about Christianity. You can't prove Jesus phyiscally rose from the dead.

So you have no evidence for your faith in the resurrection.

But I'll tell you what. If you can prove Jesus was more than just a Jew and rose from the dead to me, I will convert to Christianity and take down my website. No Joke.

As for Satan, and Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the Quran itslef says it is not from Satan:

    Surah 26:210-212, etc.

the Quran makes it clear that Satan is our enemy and commands believers to perform righteous deeds.

So whatever man, these cheap tactics don't work on me. There is no evidence to support your claim that Satan came to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). But let me be consistent and throw this same tactic back. According to the New Testament Jesus followed Satan (Matthew 4:4-8) So Jesus is a Satan follower. Thus because Jesus obeyed Satan, Christianity is false. Thus you are left with two options: Islam the only religion that has evidence for itself or Atheism. Take your pick!

  6. Ehteshaam,

It is not my claim. Muhammad himself admitted that he received revelation from Satan. In Surah 22:52-53, "Allah" covers for Muhammad's mistake by claiming that all the prophets have had Satan's words mixed in with their prophecies!

If this is true, you cannot know that you have God's word in your possession. No one can.

This is unbelief. This is pagan idolatry. If you continue to follow this false prophet–you need to know–you will end up in hell.
