Do you have a guess as to the approximate time in the 14 billion year history of our universe that your invisible sky-god decided to personally trot around the ancient Middle East for the purpose of allowing his very own creation to hang him to a tree and savagely beat himself to death for some kind of disgusting, sickening, vile, wicked, revolting, immoral blood sacrifice?
Can you explain how believing this Stone Age lunacy doesn't negate your ability to refer to yourself as sane?
And as far as Jesus being the truth, do you not realize that he was too ignorant to predict the time of his own return?
You should read Thom Starks book "The Human Faces of God" where he shows conclusively that Jesus was wrong about the end times and the kingdom of god.
Thom is also the one who destroyed Paul Copan's attempt to exonerate the Old Testament god from his atrocities. I hope you've read his 300 page book review of Copan's book.
Cheers!
Amen! 🙂

It would be great to have a name to go with your comment.
Let’s break this anonymous comment down:
Approximate time for “trotting around”: The appropriate title for the area and time frame is "the Ancient Near East," not Ancient Middle East. The time would be somewhere between 4 B.C. to 33 A.D. (or 4 B.C.E. to 33 C.E.).
//Can you explain how believing this Stone Age lunacy doesn't negate your ability to refer to yourself as sane?//
Despite the overt amount of ad hominem and negatively charged wording (1st paragraph included), there is also an apparent lack of an argument or a real question here. If you have an actual question to ask that relates to something of substance, I will answer that. Otherwise, this seems to be an ineffective use of both of our time.
Sanity issue: Having a foundation for the belief that there is an actual knowable universe is more coherent than the view that epistemology can be rooted solely in the subjectivity of mankind and/or a logical positivist view. Those seem somewhat delusional and/or wishful thinking. Therefore, theism appears to be at least one rung higher on the sanity scale than, say, materialism…and possibly way higher. But I'm not sure what criteria you are using to establish sanity. We can go into other foundations for knowledge if you'd like (such as pantheism).
//And as far as Jesus being the truth, do you not realize that he was too ignorant to predict the time of his own return?//
What’s your argument here? It seems to have something to do with the Christian doctrine on the nature of Jesus, but there’s no argument.

What argument of Copan’s did Stark specifically refute? How did he refute it? Where is it located in his work? Also, which of Copan’s arguments did you find the most difficult to refute and still hold to your current position?
Overall, my video was a quick response to a person who asks, "How do I know Heaven is real?" It seems reasonable to say that this would relate back to what you believe about Jesus. The converse to my video would be that if you don't believe Jesus is real or that he spoke the truth, you may not believe Heaven is real either. Do you have an argument concerning that specific statement?
Thanks, anon.
